Englishman to Stand at Lane's End at Conclusion of Racing Career
Grade 1 winner Englishman will stand at Lane's End Farm upon the conclusion of his racing career, the Lexington farm announced this week. The talented son of Maxfield is expected to continue racing into 2027 before beginning his stallion career, giving fans additional opportunities to see one of the sport's brightest young stars in competition.
Campaigned by Lee and Susan Searing's CRK Stable and trained by Cherie DeVaux, Englishman established himself among the nation's top 3-year-olds with a dominant victory in the Grade 1 Woody Stephens Stakes at Saratoga. Winning by 5 3/4 lengths, he earned a 115 Beyer figure going seven furlongs in 1:20.40.
Englishman has yet to finish worse than second in his career. After an impressive maiden victory at Churchill Downs as a 2-year-old, he opened his sophomore campaign with another decisive win before finishing second in the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile. He returned in the Woody Stephens to defeat many of the division's top sprinters in convincing fashion.
Bred in Kentucky by Fifth Avenue Bloodstock, Englishman is by the emerging stallion Maxfield and is out of the Speightstown mare In It for the Gold. He was purchased for $400,000 at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale and has quickly developed into one of the most promising young horses of his generation.
The announcement represents another significant addition to Lane's End's future stallion roster while allowing Englishman to continue building his résumé on the racetrack. With plans to remain in training through next season, the Grade 1 winner will have additional opportunities to add to an already impressive career before beginning the next chapter at one of Kentucky's premier breeding operations.
